March 11, 2005 This is just one of the many beautiful desert flowers that bloom in the front yard of my parent's home in Gilbert, Arizona. I used the extension tube to really get in close so that I could capture the unique detail of the flower's center. |

April 13, 2005 This has been a terrific spring for blossoms of all sorts. And where there's blossoms, there's bees! It actually took quite some time before I finally got a shot that was halfway decent. This was probably the fifth or sixth flower the bee had visited with me on his tail. I really love the intimate feeling of the moment. (hint: the larger view is amazing!) |

January 6, 2005 Soft snowfall is so tranquil... and cold. My orignial attempt was to isolate the subject as much as possible. I had thought this picture would be about cold, lonely, isolation. But the leaves just look so dang warm, and the snowfall just seems so dang tranquil. I didn't really capture the feeling that I had thought I would... but this is much better anyway. |

August 3, 2004 One of the things I really enjoy photographing is interesting cloud formations. I've long been a fan of abstract art, and clouds usually seem about as abstract as you can get. This particular formation appeared just after an afternoon cloudburst which was moving off to the east as the sun was begining to set. Believe it or not, there really wasn't too much color touch up done. |

March 16, 2005 We took a trip to Arizona recently, and I was able to get some really great pictures at the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch in Gilbert. There's a photograph in a book I have that features flowers viewed from a similar perspective. I think that picture works extraordinarily well due to its ability to present the subject from a most unusual vantage point. I hope this image works for the same reason. |

December, 2004 Because of how my office window is situated, I experienced the changing of the seasons largly by watching this single group of trees. For this particular picture, I really wanted to focus less on the trees themselves, and more on the falling snow. I had hoped it would give a sort of watercolor painting kind of quality to the piece as a whole, with the real in-focus detail apparent only to the especially studious. |

December 29, 2004 Again, I really like to capture the abstract art qualities of cloud formations. What I find so interesting here is the play between the light and darkness, as well as the almost black and white feel of the shot. |

March 16, 2005 We took a trip to Arizona recently, and I was able to get some really great pictures at the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch in Gilbert. I tried to take some shots that really emphasised color (over other possible design elements). Here's my take on "green." |

June 12, 2004 Our three year old daughter was asked to be the flower girl at recent family member's wedding. I took this picture outside the rustic Idaho churchhouse with the Saw Tooth mountain range in the background. She had found a field she could finaly run around in, with lots of wild flowers to pick. There really wasn't much posing involved, and it's not like she would have responded well had I tried any.. of course, the shot couldn't have come out better if I had. More picture of Jena can be found here. |

April 06, 2005 The weather was considerably warmer, so we took the girls to a nearby park. I took several pictures, but this turned out to be my favorite. So much so in fact, that we'd used it as the base image for her website. |
